In Their Name National Memorial to the victims of the Atlantic Slave Trade
Mission
The time for the creation of Britain's first international Memorial to honour those enslaved during the transatlantic slave trade is now upon us. Events and global change necessitates a Memorial, which will offer a beacon of hope for cohesion and unity. The horrors of the slave trade continue to impact us today, There is a need for an inspiring living memorial, where we can learn from the past, so that we can acknowledge the reality of slavery today and commit to a future in which slavery cannot exist.
Action
A local and national debate is set to be launched, which will open the way for a Memorial to be built in the world class city of Liverpool. The vision is to develop a multi-faceted international structure, which will educate and enlighten, championing reconciliation with the past and will serve as an inspiration for the future. The Memorial will also promote and support African initiatives and campaign for their prosperity, until the light of reconciliation finally begins to disperse the long dark shadow of the African Slave Trade.
